Billy Hoyle is back, and he can't stop being a fuck-up.
Obviously, there's a lot of carryover from White Men Can't Jump
to Money Train. Regardless, Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes have chemistry and can be funny.
Sometimes, they talk too much, prolonging the film.
Jennifer Lopez is a nice addition while Robert Blake is an inspired choice as the villain because of his
connection to In Cold Blood. Even better is the action. There are
tons of it, making for a fun picture to watch. How about Chris Cooper as the serial arsonist to enliven things?
However, there's one teeny problem: it becomes hard to root for Woody Harrelson's and Wesley Snipes'
characters given that they are cops and yet one of them decides to be a bank robber, not to mention the
extensive damage they've caused in the subway, reaching into hundreds of millions of dollars.
Everybody keeps mentioning the money train, but the film never explains its purpose. In New York City,
it collects all of the cash fare from subway and rail stations before transportation to a
central location for processing. Money trains were retired in 2006 due to electronic payments.
All in all, if you liked White Men Can't Jump, Money Train
won't disappoint.
