I hate the phrase to describe what happened on November 19, 2004: "Malice at the Palace."
What it was is a brawl between the Indiana Pacers and the Detroit Pistons that played repeatedly and endlessly
on every channel there was. After finding out that Ron Artest had instigated it, I was like,
"No wonder." He's the biggest lunatic who ever stepped on the court.
Truth be told, I gave up on NBA after Michael Jordan made the winning shot against the Utah Jazz. That
was the end of its golden age. Since then, the league has become unwatchable ghetto trash that's filled with
uneducated clowns (look at the stupid hairdo on Ben Wallace!) who can't speak proper English. That's why the
NBA had to expand globally to sustain some kind of revenue stream although it should move to China.
Another evidence of the league's ruination is simply this: "From 2015 through 2019, the NBA Finals averaged
18.66 million viewers. Since 2020, the average has fallen to just 10.45 million. The NBA Finals has recently
become a smaller television event than the World Series, the Masters, and the NCAA Men's Basketball
Championship." Lakers-Celtics...that was a legendary series in the 80's which attracted at least 20 million
viewers per game. Michael Jordan and the Bulls? Almost 40 million at peak.
Normally, there should be a rise in audience share over the decades just like the NFL because the national
population is growing, but that's not the case for NBA. It's rather shrinking. Why is that? Simple:
image is everything. No matter how many times the participants have tried to spin the event in
Untold: Malice at the Palace, they're part of the problem by projecting themselves as thugs, and nobody
wants to see that crap.
All in all, Untold: Malice at the Palace is a totally one-sided documentary that provides nothing new
in terms of footage with everybody painting himself as a victim.
