Quest
9/25: Uh...why is Jean-Claude Van Damme, who directs the first film of his life, repeating the same shit in The Quest?

Was he aware that the story had been done before in Bloodsport and Kickboxer? How about Lionheart, too? Instead of Attila, Abdel Qissi plays the champion from Mongolia named Khan. The ending is as predictable as the sun coming up from the east in the morning.

At least, the tournament is clear and can be written down on a piece of paper in terms of advancement. It starts with sixteen stereotypical fighters from each respective country, and weight isn't a factor. The only strange part is Jean-Claude Van Damme representing the United States when he's actually from Belgium. Due to the poor camera work, the movie is pretty hard to see, and the first hour can be safely skipped because of the rubbish backstory.

Some expressed surprise at Roger Moore for appearing in this junk. Let's not forget that he was appearing in too many crap films since A View to a Kill. At any rate, Roger Moore kind of steals the show acting-wise. On the other hand, Jean-Claude Van Damme looks thin at times. At this point, his cocaine addiction has probably gotten the best of him.

All in all, The Quest makes it clear that Jean-Claude Van Damme as a marquee star is officially over.
