8/08:
Street Smart is a prime example of a film that's buoyed by just one excellent performance but is far from
being a finished product.
Without doubt, Morgan Freeman is convincing, aggressive, and believable. Therefore, he secured his first Oscar
nomination. On the other hand, Christopher Reeve and Kathy Baker are okay. The plot is believable and happens
a lot in the news business. Somehow, I can't help but feel the incompleteness given the ending. When Fast Black
was killed, I thought, "So...they ran out of money?"
All in all, Morgan Freeman is the only reason to see Street Smart.
8/25:
My rating remains unchanged.
Morgan Freeman dominates the show in Street Smart. Everybody else is average
compared to him. That's why he was gifted an Oscar nomination for the first time in his career and started
to be more prominent from thereon despite being 50 years old and an actual grandfather.
All in all, to understand why there have been tons of fake stories in the news for decades, Street Smart
will educate you.
