I hate Spike Lee, and most of his movies suck.
Reluctantly, I went ahead with School Daze, and boy...what a mistake it had been. One week is how
long I was able to complete the film. There's absolutely no story. All of the musical numbers are pointless. Every time
it appears, my eyes will scream, "Why????"
There's overwhelmingly too much black power that I had to stop the film right away. If not that, it's
the retards who are okay with subjecting themselves to the humiliating fraternity hazing. If this is how
historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) worked back then, it's no wonder why they're quickly
dismissed on top of their poor graduation rates. There's nothing academic going on throughout the film.
I thought about giving School Daze a '2' because of Laurence Fishburne. His performance stands out,
but it's not enough to overcome the sheer awfulness of everything else. In fact, he did a superior film for
John Singleton called Higher Learning. Elsewhere, Samuel L. Jackson has
a minor role, and he does well. Three thespians from A Different World appear: Kadeem Hardison,
Darryl M. Bell, and Jasmine Guy. And that TV show is much better when it comes to attending an HBCU.
All in all, when Laurence Fishburne's character yelled, "Wake up!" at the end of School Daze, the
joke is on him because I already knew how bad it was and wouldn't attend such a rubbish college in the
first place.
