Project A (1983)

ProjA
1/26: Famous for doing all of his stunts, Jackie Chan did the most dangerous for the first time of his career in Project A.

Namely the reason why I sought the film, it's when Jackie Chan held to the hand of a clock tower and fell at least sixty feet through several awning canopies and almost broke his neck once he landed on the ground. The stunt was attempted three times before he was satisfied with the final one and stayed in character to finish off the scene, no matter what.

As expected, there are tons of world-class martial arts action. Among the most memorable is the bike chase scene. Remember this film came out in 1983, and that means no CGI. Although colorful and attentive to details for a period picture, the storytelling is very disjointed, hence my low rating of '4'. Yet the slapstick humor brings back the days of Charlie Chaplin's, Buster Keaton's, and Harold Lloyd's works.

All in all, if you've never seen a Jackie Chan picture produced in Asia, make it Project A.
