Malone
5/26: Shane, Malone, and Nowhere to Run.

All are the same type of pictures. The plot is compelling, but this time, it's a girl looking at the hero as a father figure. In the place of Alan Ladd is Burt Reynolds. He's not bad and looks iconic.

However, it's slow in parts. More action is needed. The shootout finale at Delaney's ranch isn't as exciting as Hard to Kill. That's been the main problem all along: not enough cutting-edge fireworks.

Cynthia Gibb is obviously too young for Burt Reynolds. When he leaned down to kiss her not once but twice in front of her character's father, I said, "Very awkward." On the other hand, Lauren Hutton is fine for him. I notice she doesn't have a gap in her front teeth.

All on all, at a low point of his career, Burt Reynolds commented: "I was attracted to Malone because I thought there was a chance the movie might be more than a guy running away from his past. Let's be honest. The film is Shane."
