DeathWar
5/26: The last time I saw Death Warrant is when it was theatrically released.

Jean-Claude Van Damme was all the rage at the time, and his movies were always entertaining to watch. Why is that? It's simple: action. Of course, tons of points aren't going to be earned for intelligence in Death Warrant , but the story actually passes muster although it's a weird one.

If Tong Po is the most memorable villain Jean-Claude Van Damme has ever faced, the Sandman gets second place. Therefore, Patrick Kilpatrick deserves commendation for playing him memorably well. Getting the most credit are two aspects: photography and editing. Watch how the shots are put together, and the work becomes top-notch.

I have to point out several inexplicable parts. At the beginning, a task force is assembled to infiltrate the prison to find out what's going on in regard to the mysterious deaths, and yet the culprit is among the organizers? It's like wanting to be caught. When he's found out, what's the punishment? Speaking of lives, how is it possible that the Sandman can survive being shot six times at close range, drilled in the back of his head, and thrown in a furnace?

All in all, if you liked Lock Up, Death Warrant won't disappoint.
