The worst comedian of 2000 goes to *opening the letter* Jamie Foxx!!!
Come on up to claim your chump award! In Bait, he tried to crack like 300 to 400 jokes, and all of
them fell flat. I didn't laugh once. That's some batting average: .000. Jamie Foxx wasn't funny, either, in
In Living Color, having been soundly beaten by Damon Wayans.
No wonder why the film, that was budgeted for $51 million, grossed $15 million at the box office. I honestly
didn't know this one existed until now. The script is awful. One of the characters, Stevie, is a certified
mental retard. His brother Alvin is pretty close by forgetting about the Bronx Zoo which turns out
to be behind the home plate at Yankee Stadium (huh?). Here's an example of what I listened to between them:
-"Pull over."
-"I'm not pulling..."
-"Get your finger out my face."
-"Get your finger out my face."
-"Don't touch me."
-"Don't touch me."
-"Don't touch me."
-"Don't touch me."
-"I didn't touch you!"
-"Don't touch me."
-"I ain't."
-"You touched me."
-"I didn't touch you!"
David Morse's character may have sighed and rolled his eyes many times, but I have to ask him this: the
surgical procedure involving the placement of a tracking device/bug inside Alvin's jaw...is there a much easier
way than this? That's because of two issues: 1) There will be a noticeable scar; and 2) It's going to hurt
a lot afterwards.
All in all, Bait needs to be retitled as Black Idiot, and that's Jamie Foxx in a nutshell.
